Training and Equipment: We use positive reinforcement training methods only. We do not use any methods that utilize discomfort, fear, threatening body language or pain to change behaviour. As such, we do not allow any aversive training equipment, including but not limited to choke chains, shock collars or prong collars.

Conflicting Training: Training requires consistency. As such, during the duration of the training program with us, clients agree that they will not work with any other trainers. Trying to utilize more than one method at once will only result in confusion and frustration.

Registration, Fees and Payment: Registration form and waiver must be completed and signed before any training commences. Payment is due in full upon registration. Classes and sessions are non refundable. Please note that class dates are non transferable.

Training Program: Sessions are completed once a week, with a one-week emergency reschedule period. Sessions not used within this period are not refundable and will be forfeit.

Missed Classes/Cancellations: Our training programs must be used within their
ndividual time line. If a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, the
session is considered forfeited. In the case of cancellation on the part of the Focus
Dog Training instructor, clients will be contacted by phone and/or email and the
session will be rescheduled. No-shows or late cancellations will not be refunded or
credited.

Dogs: Dogs must remain on leash at all times, unless specifically instructed otherwise. All behavioural concerns must be communicated in writing prior to the commencement of training.
During training sessions, do not allow your dog to greet other dogs or people.

Health/Temperament: Dogs who are sick, or who are recovering from illness are not permitted to attend training sessions.
Female dogs in heat are not permitted to attend group sessions, or to train outdoors. Please inform us if your female is in heat before your training session so we can plan appropriately.
Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations for Parvovirus, distemper and rabies. Titer tests are accepted.

If the dog has a bite history, this must be disclosed at time of registration.

Client Responsibility: Clients are solely responsible for their dog’s actions and behaviours at all times. By registering for training with Focus Dog Training, you are agreeing to this and agreeing that you have full legal, moral, and financial responsibility for all actions and behaviours of your dog and agree to assume all risk involved.

Children: Children are welcome in classes and sessions, however children under the age of 10 must be supervised by an adult who is NOT the primary handler of the dog (Each dog must have a dedicated handler). Children over the age of 10 may be the dedicated handler of the dog, when supervised by an adult.

Photography and Video Release: Photographs and/or video footage may occasionally be taken of dogs during training and/or other related activities. Clients give permission for any resulting photographs or video containing images of their dogs to be used for advertising, educational material, or promotional purposes.

Consulting: Any consulting and opinions given by Focus Dog Training, it’s owners and employees, on services outside of dog training (i.e. diet and nutrition, vaccinations, spay and neuter) are given on a purely personal opinion and experience basis and not as a professional consult. For any health concerns please consult your vet. We are happy to refer to vets we trust, both traditional and holistic, should you require.
