Are you ready to go from frantic to focused?
Focus Dog Training provides professional, certified dog training to the South Surrey/White Rock community. Trainer Liza Rader specializes in one on one coaching with clients, and each training plan is specialized to the individual family.
We use science based methods that are effective, ethical and engaging for the people and the dogs. We do not use any methods or tools that use pain, fear or discomfort to change your dog’s behaviour. In focusing on proactively teaching the dog what we want them to do, rather than reactively punishing what we do not want, we more effectively solve problems while helping dogs become confident and happy.
Positive reinforcement based training is accessible and easy for pet owners to learn, and training sessions are fun and low stress both for clients and their dogs.

Meet the Trainer!
Liza Rader - KPA CTP As a trainer, Liza brings together the credibility of professional certification with lifelong experience working with, raising, and competing with dogs. Liza started out in dogs being mentored by her grandmother: world renowned dog breeder, author, and judge Alison Strang and is still heavily involved in dog sports and ethical breeding. As a lifelong Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever enthusiast, she is highly experienced working with sport and working dogs and evaluates litters both for conformation and temperament. Liza believes that training should be practical and fun, and that a well trained dog is a mentally healthy dog. Her experience in disability advocacy influences how she approaches dog training, focusing on teaching both the people and the dog’s skills from a basis of mutual respect and understanding. Learning never stops, and Liza is committed to continuing education and regularly takes courses in a variety of topics from dog sports to treating major behavioural problems. Her special interest is puppies and high energy/high drive dogs. With her own dogs, Liza trains for multiple sports including retriever hunt tests, rally obedience, nosework and more. She currently lives with two dogs (Percy the Rough Collie and Biscuit the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever) and two cats (Moog and Kurt). Liza is also an artist, and completed her BFA (Major in Fine Art, Minor in Drawing) from NSCAD University in 2013. |
